Labor Day Comes Early in Ohio

Anti-union legislative fervor has been given a breathtaking punch in the gut in Ohio. In a hastily called press conference on Wednesday, Republican Governor John Kasich called for compromise with opponents to a widely despised law that would strip away union rights from teachers, firefighters, police officers, nurses, et al. Governor Kasich and his associates are obviously scrambling to limit the political damage of their law's certain repeal by a wide margin in November. Perhaps the US has cause to celebrate Labor Day a few weeks early this year? One can only wonder whether Governor Christie will take a more conciliatory stance towards unions in the wake of this news or remain openly hostile.
